Remembering September 11, 2001

On September 11, 2001, there was an attack on America.

There are some men that decided that they didn’t like what America stands for: freedom, liberty, and the rights of men and women of all races, backgrounds, and beliefs. So on the morning of September 11, 2001, they hijacked four planes and attacked America in a terrible way.

Two of the airplanes were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane was crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The last plane was going to crash into another building in Washington, D.C., but the passengers stopped the hijackers, and the plane crashed into a field   instead.

Thousands of people lost their lives through these attacks. Hundreds of people were on the planes. Thousands died in the buildings that were hit by those planes.

The men that arranged this terrible attack want Americans to feel afraid and disorganized. They want to make people who live in this country do what they say by threatening us. Basically they’re big bullies.

The people of the United States are a strong group of people. Keep faith in who you are and what our country stands for and we will become even stronger than before.

Please also thank the teachers for teaching you about that day in history and teaching you what need to know, to get far in life. Hi Fifth Graders! How are you enjoying this year at Walker with Mrs. Smith? Mrs. Smith is an awesome teacher - and I'm sure you're enjoying having her! (Although I didn't have her as a teacher, I've known her, and her loving teaching heart)

9/11/2001 was a day in America we will never forget. Sunny, blue skies; a perfect day to enjoy this ordinary day either traveling, or looking outside your windows at the top of one of the most remarkable buildings in the United States--the Twin Towers. Nobody ever imagined what was about to occur on this ordinary day in 2001. A little before 9 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:03, a second plane flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Thousands of lives were not only lost from the plane or the buildings themselves, but the first responders who responded to this terrorist attack. To honor all of those lives lost on 9/11, our family did many things for ALL of the lives lost. In a nutshell, this is what we did throughout the day: Because I was only two years old when this happened, I have no memory of anything going on. My parents told me what they were doing, or how they found out that the Pentagon, Twin Towers, and the Pennsylvania crash occurred. Secondly, our family made a moment of silence when eating lunch to think and honor all lives lost. Lastly, my mom and I wrote a kind letter to the local fire-department, and the firefighters deployed from Tucson to New York.

I hope all of you guys are having a fantastic year! See you ALL around! :-)

:-) How did you commemorate/remember those who lost their lives on this day? How are you are doing?
