Happy Weekend!

I hope you had a great week, full of learning opportunities. Great job with Math MAP testing. So far, everyone has increased their scores. :-)
I found a link to the show, "Flying Alaska". It's amazing to see how different life is there!

Next week as we near our Science Pep Rally, is there anyone interested in sharing a quick how to come up with a creative and original idea on the announcements with Mr. McConnell starting on Monday?
If so, comment below. YAY SCIENCE!

Can I share my Galileo Galile paper?

Hi Julian! I'd be happy for you to accompany Mr. McConnell on Monday. Your paper about Galileo Galilei was amazing! It's a bit long for announcements, but you could definitely read it Friday in front of fourth/fifth grade. How about a quicker 'pep talk'?
Example: "Hey all students at Walker School, are you excited about science fair? Have you come up with a creative and original idea? If not, here's a suggestion: Think of something that you are interested in or a problem you have encountered on a day to day basis. Students from our class have a lot of unique and creative ideas. Some of the students from my class have questions like, "What's the most effective way to remove the recent Costa Cruise Liner from the ocean? Will the delicate ecosystem surrounding it be affected? Can the ship be recovered or parts of it reused?" "Do the new biodegradable plastics actually decompose?" Also, "Why won't our automatic light sensor work?" "Will you get wetter faster if you run vs. walk in the rain?" and many more. What's your idea? Does it connect to current events? Does it solve a problem you or a family member has had? You never know, your science project might even change the world! Let's make this year's science fair a fun and memorable event.
This is Julian, 5th grade
You could use my example and adjust it to make it your own. What do you think? Can't WAIT to see you in action on TV!
Great job AGAIN Julian!

I just got an e-mail from Bear Essential News! I'm sharing my story and I'm also advertising for Bear Essentials! If Ms. Krensor wants to go please tell her that it's at 6:00 on Wednesday! I'll give her the address tomorrow. I also want to know if I go straight to the office tomorrow, or if I come to the classroom first. If you have time please let me know. :-)

I can't wait to film my story on KVOA! I'm so excited! I never thought I'd end up on KVOA. Thanks for everything!

Hi! I've been thinking about what I'm going to say tomorrow on the announcements. How about this: Hey Walker, on Wednesday I went to the KVOA News studio and broadcast my Bear Essentials story on TV! It was a wonderful experience! The studio is huge! It's a wonderful experience to be on TV! In addition, anyone in grades 3 through 8 can join bear Essentials! If you write a good enough story it can get broadcast on TV! Look for me on Saturday morning on KVOA4! Thank you!.
Those are my current plans.
